Mercury Marine 40HP Jet Outboard - Electric Start Long Shaft

Mercury® Jet Outboards are designed with the power and the weight to cover any shallow-water jet boat application. Our FourStroke jet outboards are electronic fuel injected, with a range from 25 to 40 horsepower.

From first light in the duck blind to last cast on the river, Mercury Jet outboards help ensure that nothing stands between you and your adventures. These lightweight, capable and efficient engines are built to dominate shallow water.

Go where others won’t
Mercury Jet outboards are built capable enough to handle your endless drive for outdoor adventure. Because there is no lower unit extending below the hull, they can get you over obstacles to places where other boaters in propeller-driven boats can’t or are not willing to go.

Quick & versatile performance
With lightweight designs, electronic fuel injection technology and high-displacement powerheads, Mercury Jet outboards race on plane quickly and accelerate to exciting speeds. All while delivering exceptional handling and top-speed manoeuvrability.

Tackle the toughest adventures
You play hard when you are on the water and demand a lot from your equipment. Our Jet outboards are up to the task. They are engineered with advanced corrosion-preventing features and durable stainless impellers so you can take on tough conditions with confidence.

Jet Advantages

  1. Corrosion resistance: Specially engineered alloys, an exclusive multi-layer coating system, sacrificial anodes and waterproof electrical connections help protect your engine from the harshest elements in freshwater and salt.
  2. Durability meets drivability: Our Jet outboards are tough, yet easy to handle, with a durable stainless impeller that can withstand hard operation and intuitive controls that put you in full command on the river or the marsh.
  3. Compact flexibility: The low weight and slender width of a Mercury Jet outboard let you power boats ranging from compact river skiffs and small jon boats to sleds and drift boats.
  4. Exceptional handling and fun: Smooth performance. Impressive torque. Rugged durability. Mercury fourstroke outboards – including Jet models – are built for ease of use and season after season of fun.

Features:

  • High-output alternator: A powerful alternator - 18 amps on the 35 and 40hp models and 17 amps on the 25hp – which helps keep batteries charged and your onboard electronics running all day.
  • Stainless impeller: The stainless impeller improves performance and withstands harsh, abrasive debris that can be drawn through the pump, enhancing long-term durability and reliability.
  • Electronic fuel injection (MPI): From the moment you crank the engine to the moment you drop the throttle, EFI technology responds with instant power. Surefire starting in all weather conditions. Smooth, efficient acceleration. Maximum capability.
  • High-displacement powerhead: Featuring the Mercury inline-3 (25hp) or inline-4 powerhead, these Jet outboards pack the muscle and reliability needed to confidently tackle shallow flats, marshes and rivers.
  • Advanced controls: With choice of tiller or remote steering, you can outfit your shallow-water boat with a Mercury propulsion system that is perfect for your adventures.
